Nigerian veteran singer, ID Cabasa, has disclosed how he met Nigerian rap singer Olamide and helped him rise to stardom.
Olamide was just 13 years old when I first met him. He came to my studio with a friend who wanted to feature him on a song. His friend, unfortunately, didn’t have much musical talent. Olamide, on the other hand, was quiet and unassuming.
I decided to give him a chance and handed him a beat. What he did next was nothing short of extraordinary. Olamide delivered 16 bars that completely changed everything. From that moment, he became more like a son to me.
This initial meeting was the beginning of a transformative journey for Olamide, who has since become one of Nigeria’s most prominent rap artists.
“When he was about to leave my record label, we sat down to discuss it. It was painful to me. It wasn’t the pain of not wanting him to progress; it was the pain of seeing someone you love leave. I cried.
